Developmental Play

This is play at its best. Children are given an opportunity through the freedom of choice to explore with their bodies. Their bodies are exposed to different types of equipment which asks the question of the body for example ‘Balance’ the equipment set up will encourage balancing and are set up in the hall.

After that once they are comfortable, we add another item e.g.a ball which then changes the weight balance or the way a child balanced before. This is to encourage problem solving. We stand by the principles that were taught to us by Psychomotor education not to hurt others and not to hurt myself. That is an ethos we aspire to throughout our school environment. Children then learn to have intrinsic self- control and not a policing philosophy of self -control.
